Point Bonita Lighthouse Trail 1.0 mile, easy. Approximately 1 hour.
Point Bonita Lighthouse is located in Sausalito at the Marin Headlands. The lighthouse at this location is still active. It was built in 1855 and sits 300 feet above the water and is managed by the U.S. Coast Guard. You can visit the lighthouse by taking a short hike. The hike is considered an easy route out and back. Along the way, you see beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean and the Golden Gate Bridge. The trail is open year-round and it can take about 1 hour to complete it depending on your pace. Once you reach the lighthouse you can choose to cross the bridge or not – just note that the bridge crossing is steep and a bit shaky. Dogs aren’t permitted on this trail.

As of October 1, 2022, The Point Bonita Lighthouse is open from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm Friday through Monday. Please note: The door to the tunnel to access the lighthouse closes at 3:30 pm. So you will want to arrive before 3:30 pm to ensure you are able to visit the lighthouse!
