The Steep Ravine to Dipsea and Old Mine Trail Loop

If you are looking for a moderate hike at Mount Tamalpais then you will want to do The Steep Ravine to Dipsea and Old Mine Loop Trail. The trail takes you through a scenic loop filled with redwood trees, creeks, waterfalls, and the popular Dipsea & Steep Ravine ladder, which is one of the many reasons this location is so popular and well-known in the area. Many paths can take you throughout this trail, but this moderate hike allows you to see a good amount of this side of Mt. Tam.
There are several places you can begin this hike. You can start at Pantoll Ranger Station or at Stinson Beach, the Stinson Beachside is the more scenic of the two since you begin hiking near the coast. There are other longer hikes, but this particular trail will bring you to about 5 miles of hiking. You can continue on to other trails which will bring you closer to 7 miles. If you are only interested in hiking to the ladders, it will take you about 2.3 miles out and back.
No dogs are allowed on this trail.
